The Second Mother
After leaving her daughter Jessica at a smallish town in Pernambuco to be increased by family members, Val performs the following 13 years employed like a priest to Fabinho at São Paulo. She’s financial stability but needs to live with the guilt of never have increased Jessica herself. Since Fabinho’s university entry tests approach, Jessica reappears in her own life and seems to wish to offer her mum another chance. But, Jessica hasn’t been increased for a slave along with also her very presence will turn Val’s regular on its mind. With humour and precision, the subtle and powerful forces that retain stiff class arrangements set up and the way the childhood might just be those to shake up it.
