The Lion in Winter
1183 AD: King Henry II’s three sons want to overthrow the throne, but he also won’t give to a decision. They along with his spouse variously plot to induce him. A aging and conniving King Henry II of England and Ireland intends a reunion in which he expects to name his own successor. He also summons the next individuals for the vacation in his chateau and chief residence in Chinon, Anjou, over the Angevin Empire of medieval France: his scheming but imprisoned wife, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine; his mistress, Princess Alais, whom he wants to wed; his first three sons, homosexual Richard the Lionheart , Geoffrey, and John, all of whom want the throne; along with the youthful, however catchy King Philip II of France, who’s also Alais’ half-brother.
