The Holy Mountain

A Mexican ace contributes a Christ figure along with other disciples into some mountain of immortal sensible men. The scandal of this 1973 Cannes Film Festival, writer/director Alejandro Jodorowsky’s flooding of sacrilegious vision and botanical tradition in The Holy Mountain is a religious quest for enlightenment pitting illusion contrary reality. The Alchemist (Jodorowsky) builds together a bunch of individuals from all walks of life to be a symbol of the planets in the solar system. The occult expert’s aim would be to place his recruits through odd mystic rites and divest them of the ancestral bags prior to embarking on a visit to Lotus Island. There they ascend the Holy Mountain to reestablish the immortal gods that secretly rule the world.
