The Ambassador

This darkly comedian, genre-bending piece of gonzo journalism from worldwide provocateur Mads Brügger (filmmaker of Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner Crimson Chapel) rips the corroded lid off the worldwide scheme of political corruption and exploitation occurring in one of the harmful locations on the planet: the Central African Republic. Armed with a phalanx of hidden cameras, black-market diplomatic credentials and a bleeding-edge wit, Brügger transforms himself into an outlandish caricature of a European-African consul. As he immerses himself within the life-threatening underworld of nefarious bureaucrats, Brügger encounters blood diamond smuggling, bribery, and even homicide — whereas in some way managing to crack superb razor-sharp barbs at each step alongside the best way. From every absurdly terrifying/hilarious state of affairs to the subsequent, The Ambassador is a one-of-a-kind tour from the person whom The Huffington Put up has referred to as “probably the most provocative filmmaker on the earth.”
