Prick Up Your Ears

Stephen Frears sends this biographical drama focusing on contentious British playwright Joe Orton, shown in flashback following his murder from lover Kenneth Halliwell. Produced at 1933 in Leicester, in the English Midlands, John ‘Joe’ Orton moves to London in 1951, intostudy at RADA, and enjoys an openly gay relationship with Halliwell at their famous Islington flat in the 1960s. However, when Orton achieves spectacular success with such plays as ‘What the Butler Saw’ also ‘Loot’, Halliwell starts to feel helpless and also the set’s future appears increasingly unclear.
