Pocketful of Miracles
Damon Runyon’s fairytale, candy and humorous, is advised by director Frank Capra. Boozy, brassy Apple Annie, a beggar with a basket of apples, is as a lot as half of downtown New York as previous Broadway itself. Bootlegger Dave the Dude is a sucker for her apples — he thinks they create him luck. However Dave and girlfriend Queenie Martin want much more than luck when it seems that Annie is in a jam and solely they may also help: Annie’s daughter Louise, who has lived all her life in a Spanish convent, is coming to America with a Rely and his son. The depend’s son desires to marry Louise, who thinks her mom is a component of New York society. It is as much as Dave and Queenie and their Runyonesque cronies to show Annie into a woman and persuade the Rely and his son that they’re hobnobbing with New York’s elite.
