Perfect Obedience

The eldest Father Ángel de la Cruz is predicated on Legion of Christ creator Marcial Maciel, whose history of child abuse wasn’t addressed before 2006 and just publicly confessed in 2009. But manager Luis Urquiza decides to match his picture during the largely uncomprehending, wondering eyes of 13-year-old Julián, who travels from the arms his adoring pastoral family in to the rustic, hallowed hallways of their seminary. Singling from the boy because his romantic disciple, putting him into his eponymous individual quarters and redubbing him “Sacramento Santos,” Father Ángel begins Julian’s schooling in to the puzzles of “perfect obedience,” whose cardinal principle is: Never wonder that a superior’s activities.
