Imitation of Life
Lora Meredith, a white widow who desires of being on Broadway, has an opportunity encounter with Annie Johnson, a black single mom. Annie turns into the caretaker of Lora’s daughter, Susie, whereas Lora pursues her stage profession. Each ladies cope with the difficulties of motherhood: Lora’s thirst for fame threatens her relationship with Susie, whereas Annie’s light-skinned daughter, Sarah Jane, struggles together with her African-American identification.
