F for Fake

Records the lives of notorious fakers Elmyr de Hory and Clifford Irving. De Hory, who later committed suicide to prevent longer prison time, made his name by promoting forged works of art from painters such as Picasso and Matisse. Irving was notorious for composing a fake autobiography of Howard Hughes. Welles goes between fiction and documentary because he assesses the basic components of fraud along with the individuals who perpetrate fraud at the cost of other people.
