Distant Voices, Still Lives
The next film from Terence Davies’s autobiographical sequence (along with”Trilogy” and”The Lengthy Day Closes”) is an impressionistic view of a working family in 1940s and 1950s ) Liverpool, mostly according to Davies’s household. Via a succession of lovely tableaux Davies generates a profoundly affecting picture album of a distressed family wrestling with the intricacy of affection.
