American: The Bill Hicks Story is just a biographical documentary film on the life span of comedian Bill Hicks. The picture was created by Matt Harlock also Paul Thomas, and includes archival footage and interviews with relatives members and friends, for example Kevin Booth. The film makers used a cut and paste animation way in order to add movement into a massive assortment of still images used to record events in Hicks’ life. The picture made its North American premiere at the 2010 South by Southwest Film Festival. The picture was nominated to a 2010 Grierson British Documentary Award for its “Most Interesting Documentary” category. It was nominated for Best Films and Cartoon group from the 2011 Cinema Eye Awards. Awards won include The Dallas Film Festivals Texas Film Maker Award, in Little Rock The Oxford American’s Most Useful Southern Film Award, and Best Actress at the Down Town LA Filmfestival.
